Re-Adopted: March 28, 2014
After returning to the rescue, Sonora (now Sonny) has been re-adopted. He is living with other J&M Acres graduate, Whisper. They are getting along well, so long as he respects that she is the boss.
He was previously adopted, but was returned from his adoptive home on January 27, 2014 to find a better fit.
FEBRUARY 24, 2014 UPDATE: Sonora has some fear-related issues when it comes to being ridden or worked with on an under-saddle level. Earlier this week, Julie went to get on him and found that he was so nervous he was shaking. We are fairly sure that his response is due to associating being ridden with pain, probably due to ill-fitting saddles and an unbalanced rider. Our equine sports therapist had the same opinion after she came out to work on him.
He will need an understanding home and a chance to bond with someone who will help him to be comfortable again. We don't believe it will be impossible for him to overcome his fears and we are hopeful that we can find him a home who will help him through that, but we will also accept applications for an adoptive home looking for a be just as happy to find him somewhere he would be loved and looked after, but where he could live his days as a retired horse.
