Like his half-brothers, Freedom was rescued from a kill pen in Sunnyside, WA. He is 9 years old and is approx 14.2hh. He is very nervous and unsure. He is not mean, but he gets overwhelmed quite easily. He is very curious and he wants to be friends, but he will require someone with a lot of patience and willingness to work with him if they want to make him into a riding horse.
He has come a long way since arriving at the rescue in the beginning of September. He is not as shy anymore, but does require patience when handling as he can be a bit hard to catch and he is unsure, so benefits when you take your time - treats help as well as a positive reinforcement tool. His only vice is that he is very nervous about picking up his feet, so he will need an owner willing to work with him on that and a patient farrier. Otherwise, he just needs someone willing to put the time into bonding with him.
Freedom would make a great companion and maybe one day a riding horse, but not without some work. He really needs his own person and his own space though so that he can bond with a new person. These boys have been through a lot and they deserve at least that.
If you think you would like to give Freedom the home and attention he deserves, please contact us for an adoption application and to set up an appointment if you are interested in our last white gentleman.
