We are still working on getting to know these boys and handling them, but what we can tell you so far is firstly that they are all part brothers who share the same sire: Blissful Flight. He is a 2002 Standardbred who won $23,191 in his career. However his sire and the boys grandsire, Blissfull Hall, earned over $1.4 million in his career.
None of them have been started (for harness or riding) and are clean slates to be worked with. Additional information they we got from their brands/paperwork is the following:
SOUTHSIDE PITMONEY (pictured left) - Born May 7, 2012, which means he will be celebrating his 2nd birthday here at the farm with us on Wednesday! He is so far the shyest of the three and the largest.
SOUTHSIDE BRYAN (pictured right) - Born May 20, 2012. He is the youngest of the three and the second largest. He is currently our favourite of the group. He is very personable and wants to be friends, though he is still unsure given his previous handling (or lack there-of).
All boys have very nice builds and great demeanors - they are curious and social, very intelligent eyes and they are constantly watching us with the other horses. The two lighter bays seem to be the most bonded, but the smaller of them is the most independent of the group as well.
Tomorrow marks a week since these boys arrived here at the rescue. They are definitely coming around, but will need a bit more time before we will be able to deworm them as well as get a good look/feel as to whether or not any of them are gelded (their registration information merely notes 'horse'). If they are not gelded, their adoption fees will increase to $500 to cover the cost of a regular gelding surgery, which they will have done here at the farm.
We will post more information and photos as they become available!
