Phoenix

Phoenix is a 14 year old, Arabian mare. She was rescued by J&M Acres in September 2009 from auction.
She was sent to the auction by a dude stable in Mission. It was the end of their season and they had no more use for her. Luckily, J&M Acres was there to take her home. Phoenix had been at the rescue for almost a year and we had many calls about her, but the rescue owner felt nothing was 'quite right' for her. In the month of August 2010, there were roughly half a dozen people interested in adopting Phoenix. That was when Julie knew she couldn't let her go. So in August 2010, Phoenix was adopted by J&M Acres. |
Phoenix is only the second horse in fifteen years and over 400 faces to be adopted by Julie MacMillan, the owner of J&M Acres Horse Rescue. Her other being a now 25-year-old, Arabian gelding named Digger.
Phoenix now happily lives at Julie's house and is always there when it is feeding time. She is a sassy and spunky mare who certainly is the princess of the rescue! Julie even has pink gear for her a pink 'Princess' sign for her pen.
Phoenix now lives a safe life at the rescue and keeps all the rescue horses in line. On test drives with the rescues, Phoenix always leads the way down the trail (granted, not always steadfast), but she gets the job done. She picks her way through the trails and helps provide confidence to abused and nervous rescues when we take them out on their first rides.
Like Julie and the rescue, Phoenix helps a lot of souls.
