J&M Acres Horse Rescue is an all-breed private rescue located in Maple Ridge, BC that began in 1995. Since then, we have helped to rescue and re-home over 600 horses; the majority of whom, were on their way to slaughter. Our mission is to get as many horses off the meat truck and into good homes as we can.

While we are an all breed rescue, we do get many Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds as they are often in need of new homes after their racing careers.

Many of the horses who come to us end up in our care because their owners are no longer able to afford them. We provide care while the horses are at the rescue as well as assess them both on the ground and under saddle for potential adoptees.
