              How to Adopt

Before looking into adopting a rescue horse, please ensure that you are able to care for one properly. Most of the horses that end up in rescues end up here because people underestimate the amount of time, money and care they require. By doing your research and determining your skill level, needs and availability the adoption process will be much smoother.

Please consider reading this article Horse Adoption: The Transition Period as well before adopting.

              What is necessary for adoption?
              1. Complete our adoption application and agreement. If you have a specific horse in mind, please note their name. Otherwise, leave that section blank and we will let you know which of our equines might be a good fit.
              2. Once you are approved, we will work to schedule an appointment with you if possible.
              3. If you wish to move forward with the adoption after the appointment (or without one), we will finalize the adoption agreement. It will need to be signed and dated before that horse can be moved off of the property.
              • If you are under 18 years of age, your parent/guardian will also be responsible for reviewing the adoption agreement and co-signing for the adoption and care of the animal.
              • If you are like some of our many adopters who adopt and transport a horse sight-unseen, please sign and date the final copy of the adoption agreement, scan it and e-mail a copy to us.

              Trial Period

We do honor a two-week trial period (as noted in the agreement) which is a period of time that will allow the new adopters and their rescue to get used to each other and see if they are a good match. If at the end of the two-week trial, the adoption is a success, the contract will continue. If it is unsuccessful, the contract will be null once the horse is back in our care.

              Transportation

We are able to make local deliveries to adopters within the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley of BC only. However, we do adopt horses out internationally as well as cross-country, but you are responsible for arranging and paying for transport. Here are some trusted haulers you can contact for a quote or check out our forum for upcoming hauls and dates.
