Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?
The rescue is in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Maple Ridge is about an hour east of Vancouver, BC.

What are your adoption fees?
Our adoption fees range from 'by donation' up to $500 per horse.

What is your adoption process?
Read our adoption process here and review our adoption agreement here.

How can we donate?
Check out our How to Help page for various ways to donate, or click here to become a monthly sponsor. For a breakdown of rescue costs and expenses, click here.

Where do most of your rescue horses come from?
The horses that end up at J&M Acres come from local auctions or the stockyard, racetracks and from owners who can no longer properly care for their equine companion.

Are you a registered rescue organization?
No. We are a private rescue organization.

Are you ever in need of fosters or volunteers?
If you are local and are interested in fostering, definitely contact us. As for volunteers, we are currently maxed in terms of what the property can handle.

How many horses do you have space for?
Our maxed capacity is 6 horses at the main property, plus whatever stalls are open at our foster locations.

Do horses remain in your care until they are 100% healthy?
Not necessarily. This is judged on a case-by-case basis. Horses adopted that are still in need of TLC come with extended trial periods.
