Larry (AKA: Strider & Chance)
Larry was rescued from the local auction on September 26, 2010. As soon as I saw him at the auction, I was immediately drawn to his energy and his demeanor. He was the sweetest thing I had ever met and I loved him instantly. Since he was in good shape and the sweetest horse, Julie and I wrote him down as one to watch for in the auction pen in case no one else bidded on him. He was sound through the pen and we ended up buying him out from the kill buyer with a bid of $100 over-top of the meat mans.
He came back to the rescue and settled in immediately. Julie and I detested the name 'Larry' and so we did a vote and re-named him 'Strider'. Strider won the hearts of a lot of people (including Julie and I) almost instantly and ended up going to his forever home in October 2010.
He is now living in Northern BC and his new owner has come to call him 'Chance', which I think very much suits him.

Letter From His New Mom:
Hi Amy,
I don’t have much more to write at the moment about “Chance” as we have come to call him. Chance had a stone bruise that come to the surface about two weeks after coming home with me. Then about another two weeks after that he had an abscess drain on the opposite back coronet. He is sound now other then being a little tender footed on the icy ground here.
He is very happy to have a new girl friend (a palomino Appy) and to be with our herd. We had to move him from our little stud colt because he was eating his way through the wood railings. :-)
I have spent much time trying out different bits to find the one that he is most comfortable with and have finally found one. When we had some snow I was able to take him out for trail rides, some long trots and a good canter. Man he has a big stride. Can’t wait to have him in the jump arena. I think that you could very well look for him in some horse shows this year.
I will try to keep you informed on things as we are able to spend more time together. I truly think that I have found a horse that I can have a lot of fun with. Thank you for saving him.
Yours truly,
Loni
