Re-Adopted: March 13, 2017
Chuck (aka Steeltown) arrived in at the rescue Thursday night and we already had two homes who were interested and who had sent in applications for him. It was a tough choice, but he had a great meeting with one lady this afternoon and will be heading to his new home in Kelowna next week. Given how much he has been shuffled around recently, we are glad to see him heading to a new home right away; we were worried if he settled in too much here, the transition would be tougher for him. Thankfully, his new home seems like the perfect fit and they are looking forward to getting to know him better in the coming weeks. Congrats handsome!
UPDATE: His mom has renamed him Charlie and is so in love already ❤
AGE: 7 y/o
RIDER LEVEL: Advanced

ADOPTION FEE: $500
Steeltown (aka Chuck) is a 15.3hh Standardbred gelding who is currently 7 years old. He was originally rescued by J&M Acres Horse Rescue a few years ago when he found himself at the stockyard. Unfortunately, his current family can no longer keep him so he needs to find a new home.
Chuck was born on 03/25/2009 in Alberta. Click here to review his pedigree. He is a pacer who won just over $3,000 in his 9 starts, his last being on 11/25/2011. He retired sound, but was just too slow for the track.
Chuck is broke to ride and drive and has been ridden in the ring and lunged regularly over the last few months and handled daily. When he first arrived at his current farm, he was a little shy and hard to catch but has become much more relaxed in their care. He is good at the walk and trot in the ring and has shown a lovely canter. He is easy to catch at meal times now but is a shy horse and can be a bit aloof, but would be a fantastic companion for a strong and experienced rider. He would be an excellent competitive trail horse and/or endurance horse. He is not afraid of things such as ATVs, guns, gators, vehicles, etc and would be a very good trail partner as well.
He is in excellent health; has had his teeth checked and has his shots and worming done in early November. He has had his feet maintained and his hooves are in excellent condition as well.
Chuck will be arriving at the rescue this weekend and looking for a new home. His adoption fee will be $500 to an approved adopter. Please contact us or submit an adoption application if interested
