Well, Mr. Dozer has made the impression we thought he would! So much so that his trial family messaged me today and said that they are completey in love with him! In fact, his Mom went on and on about him:
He is so sweet and patient with me and tries so hard to please even when I don’t think he completely understands what I mean. He has been so wonderful to me this last week and has got the routine down and even loves going into his stall for nighttime!
I’m so happy that he has come into my life. Although I am already well trained - when I get to the barn the first thing i do is go out side and give him a carrot. So now as soon as he sees me he nickers at me and bobs his nose for a kiss and then a carrot. It’s too cute. He is a pretty special boy! I think with some miles under saddle he is going to be incredible at his job!
I am so happy that this worked out for both of you. Dozer is as lucky to have you, Nicole, as you feel you are to have him!
AGE: 5 y/o
BREED: Quarter Horse x
HEIGHT: 15hh approx.
We rescued him at auction in May 2010 and he was rehomed in August. His adoptive owners could no longer keep him due to their mare becoming dangerously over-protective of him.
He is a very sweet and mellow boy. Nothing really bothers him and he loves attention. He has also been officially started under saddle! He was very easy and barely moved when I cinched and bridled him. He had no issues with me mounting and stood quietly the whole time.
His mellow nature makes him a great candidate for a therapy horse or a quiet riding partner for hitting the trails.
