Amelia is a 17 y/o Holsteiner x Thoroughbred mare. She is sticked at 16.2hh. She is registered as Amelia Earheart. Here is her pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/amelia+earheart. Her dam is a Holstein mare out of the famous stallion, Mosquito, and her sire is a 1982 Thoroughbred stallion by the name of Taylor. She does come with her papers.
Great ground manners, good with other horses, hauls, lunges, bathes, etc. Very sweet!
Amelia is very light on the reins. She is very responsive to the outside side rein when asking her to drop her head and move forward. She is a little shy when it comes to your leg, I have been working on lots of circles but you have to give her lots of signals to get her to turn into the circle. Needless to say she is willing to work on this, we have been doing slow figure eights. No buck or rear, or other vices.
She has a very lengthy trot and sometimes over extends her trot and will step on herself and trips but this does not scare her, she just keeps going. On the lunge line her canter is very smooth. I have cantered her under saddle it does takes some convincing to get her into it just because she is a little unbalanced.
She loves to work, she is not sour about anything. When she cant figure new movements out she just needs someone with patients to help her slowing move through things. I believe she use to do dressage. I was told that she was not really worked for five years. Her front feet have some cracks, we have been trying to get the farrier down to check feet however he has been tied up. From getting proper feed and the light work her feet have been growing nicely. The sole is nice and hard so I don't think she will need shoes.
